Meet People Where They Are

Stop playing life and live.
Stop playing life and live.

Stop Playing the Game with Old Flags

Life is not a game of manipulation or competition, but of growth, understanding, and connection. Yet, whenever there are flags, whether you’re playing the game, there will be red, some green, some yellow — but all are signals meant to teach you something, not necessarily to stop you from moving forward. The problem is, too many people get stuck reacting to those flags based on what’s been triggered in them from their past, instead of taking a moment to truly see and hear the person in front of them.

We often fail to meet others where they are, because we’re too busy protecting where we were. That’s what causes misunderstanding, miscommunication, and misalignment. It’s not always that the other person is wrong; sometimes it’s that we’re still carrying old versions of ourselves into new experiences.

When you meet someone — in business, friendship, or love — your focus should be on listening to what they’re saying, not just hearing through the filter of your own experiences. Every word they share is a reflection of their perception, their journey, their truth. But too often, instead of learning from that, we rush to impose our values, beliefs, wants, and desires on them. We say things like “That’s just how I’ve always done it,” or “That’s just who I am.”

But if growth is the goal, then the phrase “That’s how I’ve always done it” should never be a justification — it should be a warning. Because the person who refuses to evolve will always repeat their past.

Growth means stepping outside the comfort of your patterns and meeting people in the present moment — not through the lens of your trauma, fear, or ego. It means recognizing that it's okay to step away if something isn’t working — whether it’s a relationship, a business partnership, or even a friendship. If you’re not bonding, if the energy’s not there, if you’re forcing something that doesn’t align, you’re not growing — you’re just repeating.

Don’t let your past dictate your present. That’s insanity. Doing the same thing repeatedly, expecting a different result, only keeps you stuck in a loop that no longer serves you.

So, take today as a new beginning. Approach life with openness instead of judgment. Listen instead of assuming. Feel instead of fearing. Don’t let the “flags” control you — learn from them.

Stop with all the extra noise and live for today. Because the game isn’t about winning — it’s about becoming.
